Course Information
This course will provide students with the knowledge, skills and competence to select, establish, grow and maintain a range of plants and vegetables. Study support is available.
Progression
Successful completion of the course will enable students to seek work in a horticulture/plant care environment and / or the opportunity to progress to further or higher education and employment.
Entry Requirements
To ensure that you are offered a place on a course which is at the right level for you and appropriate to your learning needs all applicants are assessed prior to placement on the course. A high level of English language is required. IT skills are required for the course.

Attendance
This is a part-time course, two or three mornings a week. A full award can be achieved over a two year period. The course requires students to travel independently to our allotment based in Turvey in Donabate.
Work Experience Placement
Work Experience is a core element of this award. Students will be required to complete 60 hours of work experience throughout the course which students source themselves. The placement can be in one or more work places and can be spread over a number of weeks.
Eligibility
This course is funded under the Back to Education Initiative (BTEI) funding. In order to be eligible for a free course, applicants must be:
- be an early school leaver
- in receipt of a Social Protection payment and /or
- have a GP or Medical Card
- Signing for credits

Location
This course takes place in Burgundy House, Swords
