This 1-year part-time course is an excellent opportunity to equip the learner with an adaptable skillset to work in a variety of areas such as a Special Needs Assistant (SNA) in a primary or post primary school setting, community support and community development or healthcare.
The course is QQI level 5 certified and offers progression pathways to employment or further education at level 6. It is also recognised as a pathway to third level education in areas such as Social Care, Community Development and Youthwork.
The learner may have an existing vocationally specific skillset and seek reskilling/upskilling in order to re-enter the workforce. A completed second level education is desired, however, if the learner has not achieved a previous formal qualification, it is expected that the learner will be able to demonstrate the levels of competency associated with the NFQ level 4 when accessing the programme.
